Why YOU Should Become a Kauffman Scholar

Samuel Johnson once stated, "The future is purchased by the present." He means the decisions you make now will have an impact on your entire life!

Planning for the future isn't always easy. Young people often get caught up in what is happening right now, and may not see that the choices they make today will dramatically affect their lives for years to come.

Kauffman Scholars is dedicated to helping urban students make the most of their potential to become successful adults. Becoming a college graduate is one of the most—if not the most—important things a young person can do to ensure personal success in the future.

Did you know that college graduates earn more than a million dollars in the course of their lifetime?. College graduates have more job prospects, because they are better prepared to make the most of career opportunities. And, the experience of attending college broadens an individual's appreciation for the world and gives graduates a better quality of life.

Yet, young people often see obstacles ahead of them in fulfilling the dream of becoming a college graduate. That's why YOU should apply to become a Kauffman Scholar. The Kauffman Scholars program provides key services to help students in our program prepare for college, and become college graduates.

Our services take place outside regular school hours, and that requires a real commitment from the students and families that participate. But, the reward for your commitment is an opportunity that could dramatically change the rest of your life, and even the lives of your future children.

The Kauffman Scholars program is totally focused on providing each Scholar with the best guidance and academic support available. There is no cost to students or their families to be part of this program. And, college scholarship assistance is available for students who attend college in our program.

If you are an sixth grade urban student who attends school in either the Kansas City, Kansas or Kansas City, Missouri school districts and meet our eligibility requirements, then do not let the opportunity to become a Kauffman Scholar pass you by. There is a classic Latin saying, "Carpe diem!" that means "Seize the day!" And that is what I encourage you to do—seize this great opportunity by applying to become a Kauffman Scholar.
