How to Apply

- Step 1: Parents and students attend a Kauffman Scholars, Inc. (KSI) Information Meeting.

Application packages will be handed out, and parents and students will have a chance to learn more about the program.

April
- Step 2: Parent and student complete and return application packet.

It is critical that all the requested information and references are included before returning the packet to the Kauffman Scholars office.
DATE: Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008.
NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
- Step 3: Kauffman Scholars committee reviews applications and selects students who are eligible to move to next step.

Students who meet eligibility criteria and have completed applications on time will be notified via mail of their eligibility to move to the next step.
DATE: By Saturday, May 3
May/June
- Step 4: Eligible students take assessment exam.

Assessment exams will be given in two locations: Donnelly College for Kansas students, and Westport High School for Missouri students.
DATE: May 10
- Step 5: Family Interviews by Kauffman Scholars staff.

Students that meet selection criteria will be interviewed in May. Both the student and the parent/guardian must participate in the interview process.
DATE: May 19 - May 22 and May 26 - 29
Eligible students will be notified via mail of interview location and time.
- Step 6: Kauffman Scholars Committee selects Scholars for Class 5.

After interviews, the Admissions Committee conducts a final review of all applications and selects scholars for Class 5.
DATE: June 3 - June 20
July/Aug
- Step 7: Notification letters for Class 5 are sent to selected students.

DATE: June 23 - July 7
Students selected as Kauffman Scholars will be expected to attend the following sessions:
- Step 8: Family Orientation. Students and their parents attend a Kauffman Scholars Orientation Session.

DATE: Saturday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 22
- Step 9: Induction Ceremony. A ceremony for Class 5 that officially brings new students into the Kauffman Scholars program.
