Kauffman Scholars has established a network of postsecondary schools (four-year, two-year, and technical colleges) that are partnering with our program’s leaders and students. These schools offer our scholars ongoing support services, such as tutoring, coaching, and mentorship to improve their chances to successfully complete a college degree.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Through an ongoing partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, Kauffman Scholars works to match students with mentors in the local community. Mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters are college graduates who can help a Scholar:
-Explore college major and career aspirations
-Attend college visits
-Study for upcoming exams
-Prepare for what to expect in college
-Network and job-shadow
Although not mandatory, all Scholars are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
Big Brothers Big Sisters - ACES
In conjunction with its traditional mentoring program, Big Brothers Big Sisters also offers the ACES program, which focuses on college and career mentoring. As a participant in this program, Scholars are matched with adults who offer a variety of resources and support them on their path to college and career success. Supports include:
-Individualized support through professional staff
-Personal, scholastic and professional development workshops
-Access to internships/employment opportunities
Pages & Chapters
Pages & Chapters aims to provide support, resources and encouragement to urban families of Kansas City in an effort to foster critical literacy skills. Pages & Chapters and Kauffman Scholars partner in literacy initiatives that provide opportunities for Scholars and parents to give back to the community.
