Scholars are provided with a variety of opportunities that both support and enrich their journey through to postsecondary success. As a college access and scholarship program, leadership and academic excellence are the key principals we nurture through coaching and advising.
Coaching affords Scholars with a professional support system of individuals who understand each Scholar's needs and goals through individualized, one-on-one meetings, advising session and workshops. Coaches engage with Scholars after school and during Saturday workshops, and may also recommend KSI Programming that supports and enriches a Scholar's academic goals and leadership building.
Scholars begin meeting with a Postsecondary Advisor in their junior year of high school to maximize the college admissions process through best-fit advising, college knowledge workshops, and financial literacy education.
Scholars also participate in career readiness and entrepreneurship engagements through programs like Ice House Entrepreneurship Program and REAL Talk Career Readiness Series. Through programs such as these, Scholars prepare to enter the workforce and meet the goal of becoming productive members of society. Once a Scholar has achieved postsecondary success, they are inducted into the Kauffman Scholars Alumni Community, a group dedicated to giving back to Kansas City and the next generation of Scholars.
